Halo 5 Whole-House Water Treatment System Installed in Pasadena

The Problem

A Pasadena homeowner was having their Navien tankless water heater descaled every 8 months due to LA’s hard water. The LC (lime/scale) code kept appearing, and they were concerned about long-term heat exchanger damage. They also noticed a persistent chloramine taste in their tap water and scale deposits on all their bathroom fixtures.

What We Did

We installed a Halo 5 whole-house water treatment system at the main water entry point. The Halo 5 combines a multi-stage carbon filter — specifically effective against chloramines, which LA uses instead of chlorine — with a salt-free template-assisted crystallization (TAC) conditioning stage that prevents scale formation without adding salt or chemicals. Installation took 3 hours including the bypass valve and all connections.

The Result

Chloramine taste eliminated immediately. Scale deposits on fixtures stopped forming. The homeowner’s Navien has not thrown an LC code since the Halo 5 installation, now 14 months later. Annual descaling is no longer required. The system requires no salt, no chemicals, and minimal maintenance.
